Intrepid travellers and authors of this blog, Elliott Cooper and James Lamming, are delighted to announce the official launch of “Two Yaks In A Hatchback”.
The Two Yaks are a team born and bred to tackle the 10,000 mile drive to the edge of the world, beyond the empire of Genghis himself- Ulaan Ude.
Although our final year exams and the tedious bureaucracy of getting hold of visas for countries we didn’t even know existed has been time-consuming, our main issue has been finding a name that appropriately represents our daring yet charming selves. Some rogue ideas were thrown out there, ‘Chatwagon to Ulan Banter’, ‘From Yaks to riches’ , ‘One Steppe Beyond’. Eventually, 'Two Yaks' was settled on as the best of several evils. A big thanks to Anthony Rubinstein (http://arubinstein.com/new/) for designing a pretty tasty logo for us.
With the name in the bag, we are also delighted with the acquisition of our rampaging steed thanks to the generosity of Hilton Motors, a classic 2002 Suzuki Ignis. While she appears more suited to the comfortable, smoothly tarmacked roads of Britain currently, we are looking forward to trimming off the puppy fat* until she resembles the rampaging rally stallion she was always destined to be.
As we are yet to set off just, there are no unfortunate-for-us-but-entertaining-for-you stories we can update you on, only the promise that this challenge is seriously daunting, and we are horrendously unprepared for what awaits – as you can tell from the fact we’re launching with less than a month to go before the start.

Although we are undeniably undertaking this trip for the once in a lifetime adventure it offers, we are also great guys raising money for some fantastic and worthwhile charities in the process- Cool Earth and Winter Comfort for the Homless. Any money you could donate to them in support of our cause via our justgiving page would be hugely appreciated. Furthermore, you can also help fund our spiralling costs in return for rewards ranging from logos on our car and rights to photos we take, to setting us some extra challenges.
